What is your overall opinion of this month’s challenge?
NATIONAL QUILTING MONTH Challenge: I was more than happy to participate in this challenge because I have been wanting to quilt FO-EVA! I just never got around to it. I didn’t think I as going to get to it this time with the sewing competition and my blog all happening at the same time but I did it. I enjoyed creating, laughing at my mistakes and looking at all the Youtube videos as I created my masterpiece. I had fun!

What did you enjoy most?
I liked the fact that I was able to create a quilt that was meaningful to me. I loved creating my own block that represents my heritage in a very artful way. I love the fact that there is usually a story behind a quilt and I am in awe of what you can do with quilting.

What did you like least?
You have to be 100% on point with your measurements and your stitching or it’s just not gonna workout for you. This is where I finally got to use my new seam ripper and we are now besties!

Would you sew it again?
Yep! I definitely plan on embarking on another quilt. I even went out and bought some new tools to get the job done.

Learn anything new? Any advice for others working on this project?
I learned so many new techniques because of this adventure. I laughed so much at my process, I know that the steps that I took would make a professional quilter cringe, maybe even cry, if they knew the things that I did to get through this quilt! Some of it wasn’t pretty, not pretty at all I tell ya. I wish I had did a little more research before I actually started my quilt. I took shortcuts that I would not take in my next quilt. (Don’t get it twisted my quilt turned out to be an awesome piece of work, I’m just sayin’ I would do some things differently.) I suggest you get yourself a nice cold beverage of your choice kick back on a comfy chair and log onto Youtube and watch some videos, starting with beginners and then check out the masters because the tips are going to make your quilting much more easier than winging it!
