Be Fearless in your Creativity

Happy Monday to you all! I hope you all had a fabulous and safe weekend.

This post is going to be a bit different in the sense that it is solely being made to make sure everyone who is supporter, lover, and in fact a PGS themselves stays motivated and lifted up. Sewing is not an easy hobby, though tons of fun. Mistakes seem a lot bigger, especially when you know you need to pull out the Seam Ripper. Regardless of all of this, we do it and love it! The community seems so big, yet so small sometimes. Which is why we firmly believe that there is no PGS without you. This site, our mission IS all about you, without your support, love and amazing submissions, we would be 5 women who sew…yeah, not really that exciting 🙂

The message this morning is real simple: Be Fearless in your Creativity (And let it carry over to your life).

I have been seeing a lot of women tearing down other women for choosing to wear tulle skirts, mix textile patterns, or whatever creative idea that person had and was fearless enough to execute. Giving off the message some can and some can’t! Well we don’t support elitism over here, at all. Unfortunately, people have been tearing each other down from the beginning of time, so tearing down sewing projects is no different, but we here at PGS want you to keep your head high, needles sharp, bobbins filled and keep it pushing!

If you want to try new things, experiment! Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. If you love working with one type of fabric, push yourself and try something new, you never know what may happen! If you like doing skirts, try pants for your next project! We’ve got your back. Hence, why we stress that you guys submit, and not only for the project of the month but for the Show Off gallery! We love featuring you and your hard work!

In closing, no matter what someone will ALWAYS have something to say, but at PGS it will always be positive.  You will always have a network of support here!

NOW! Back to business:

Don’t forget, you ladies can still submit May’s project (Sex and the City Chic Tulle Skirt)

June is Electric Summer – it is your choice, Tess wants to see something new, refreshing and fun for the summer!

This is beautifully written. I pray that the words touch someone’s heart enough so that they won’t give up, but begin to be built up. Even in my sewing school, I instill in my students to respect each others choices of fabric, design and creativity. Don’t be a sewing bully. Trials will come…especially with a new brand of patterns or new techniques. But we can make it! Just slow down & research (Google, Youtube or ask PGS) and everything will be just fine. Happy Sewing everyone!

great post! I agree totally. People need to remember that if they don’t have anything nice to say, keep their thoughts to themselves!

I agree! It takes so much less energy, and fun energy to be kind. I hope this inspires people to keep going, and keep pushing!

I just found this site by accident. I LOVE it and the message. I’m an older sewist 66…love fashion but feel self-conscous about wearing the fabrics and colors I love. The support here is giving me the courage to sew it and wear it with pride. Thank you!!!
